I didn't know at the time, but I think this is the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge (also known as the Pearl Bridge). It is the longest suspension bridge in the world at 12,828 feet long (as a comparison, the Golden Gate is 8,981 feet long). It crosses the Akashi Strait between the Honshu and Shikoku islands. |
